A Trek to Agastya Mountain's - Recollection of Awesome memories






An awesome experience in exploration of nature and deciduous forest.

Expedition to South India's Second Highest Peak - Agastyaar Koodam (Agastya Mountain's) at an altitude of 1868 m from sea level, Agastyaar Koodam is located with in Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary in Sahyadri Ranges of Western Ghats part of Agastyamala Biosphere reserve coming under UNESCO MAB Programme,  lies between the border of states of Kerala & Tamilnadu in India.

Agastyaar Koodam is named after Maharishi (Sage) Agastya, it is believed that Sage Agastya Meditated (Thappassu) in this mountain. Hence it’s also a pilgrim centre.




Agastyaar Koodam is diverse in landscape, consisting of deciduous forests, semi
evergreen forests, dense evergreen forests, grasslands, rocky formations & Tropical 
rain forests.




Agasthyar Koodam area belongs to Neyyar wildlife sanctuary and Peppara wildlife
sanctuary. There are around 43 species of mammals including tiger, leopard, sloth 
bear, elephant, sambar, barking deer, Nilgiri langur and Nilgiri tahr. It is also home to 
over 230 species of birds, 45 species of reptiles including King Cobra, Viper and about 
40 species of fish.
